NEW YOUTH MOVEMENT TO BE FORMED SEQUEL TO TRAINING COURSE. As a sequel to the recent training course lor Church of England youth leaders in Wanganui, organised by the Wellington Diocesan Youth Council, the Young Anglican Movement is being launched in Wanganui as well as in other centres. The Bishop of Wellington, the RL Rev. H. St. Barbe Holland, intends to hold inaugural services in Wanganui. Hawera, Palmerston North, Masterton and Wellington between the end of February and Easter. During the conference discussions in Wanganui the formation of a local branch was mentioned and suggestions were received from youth leaders on its constitution.
The aim of the movement is to bind together Anglican youth in an association, "to make the Kingdom of God come true in human life.” The badge is a red star with a white cross in the centre.
Young Anglicans, states the charter. will make and keep their own rule of life based on daily prayers, the devotional use of the B*)Ie. attendance at divine worship in their own church each Sunday, almsgiving, regular communion after duo preparation. witness, and service. They will be thorough in their work anil will seek to becomo expert in their trade, calling or profession. They will keep clear of all shady practices in business. They will seek to develop a sense of stewardship in the use of! their time, money and possessions. They will uphold the Christian standards of chastity and temperance, honesty and courtesy in all they do. They will endeavour to maintain a high standard of healthy recreation and clean sport in the life of the community and of the individual.
