ESCAPES INTG SPAIN Recd. 7 p.m. Barcelona, Nov. 17. Brigadier J. Hargest, M. 8., a New Zealand officer who escaped from a priioner-ot-war camp in Northern Italy and was for a time in Switzerland, arrived here on Tuesday after crossing the Franco-Spanish irontier on foot. He reported immediately to the Spanish authorities, who granted him partial freedom. »

At Wellington yesterday the Hon. Walter Nash said the cabled report from Barcelona concerning Brigadier Hargest’s escape to Spain was delightful news. “It Is to be hoped,” he added, “that he will be back again at a reasonably early date.”
