BURMA FIGHTING
FORWARD UNITS CLASH
R.A.F. BOMBING MISSIONS Recd. 6 p.m. Rugby, Nov. 14. Active patrolling continues along the Burma front, particularly in the Arakan and Chin Hills sectors, says an India communique. During the past two weeks forward troops had a number of clashes with the enemy a few miles north of Maungdaw, in all of which the enemy suffered casualties and was forced to retire.
In the Chin Hills our patrols, at slight cost to themselves, inflicted many casualties on the enemy in the Kalemyo area and there were clashes also further south in the vicinity of Falam.
_ Enemy-occupied villages and positions in the Kalemyo sector were the objectives of R.A.F. fighter-bombers and dive-bombers on Saturday. Bursts were seen among buildings and huts and the targets were machine-gunned after the bombing. Fighters made damaging attacks on five steamers on the Irrawaddy near Mandalay.' _At Nyaunghla, further down the river, oilfield installations were successfully shot up. On Saturday night medium bombers successfully raided a supply dump at Toungoo and riverside buildings. All our aircraft returned.—B.O.W.’
