WAITOTARA BOWLING
NEW SEASON OPENED (0.C.) Waitotara, Nov. 15. Favoured with fine weather, the official opening of the Waitotara Bowling Cub for the 1943-44 season held on Saturday was a great success. Mr. E. W. Lee, president, extended a very hearty welcome to the visiting bowlers who were present from Patea, Waverley, Rapa-nui, St. John’s and Castlecliff. Calling upon Mrs. E. W. Lee to throw the first jack and send down the first bowl, he declared the green officially open. At the close of play, Mr. P. Bremer, Waverley, returned thanks for the way the visiting bowlers had been entertained, especially by the ladies, and congratulated the club on the splendid state of the green. Detailed results of the games played are as follow: —Haworth, Jones, Cooper, Richards 33 v. Foley, Roberts, Strachan, Howie 17; McClymont, Ramsbottom, White, Maule 25 v. E. Aiken. Cassells, Prouse, S. Aiken 24; Coutts, Watson, Brown, Heginbotham 24v. Benson Thynne, Hurley, J. Verry 15; Bromiley, Tennent Lee, Bremer 19 v. Munro, R. Verry, Hopkinson, Blackie 11; Orsman, Lane, Pepper 36 v. Siddells, Derbyshire, A. Handley 20; Aiken, Alexander, Simson 33 v. Belton, Dallison, Beer 24.
