CRICKET “ASHES” IN PRISON CAMP SERIES

Recd. 6 p.m. London, Oct. 14. In a three-cornered series, England, Australia and New Zealand, the Australians won the cricket “Ashes” for 1943. Because of circumstances beyond the control of players and spectators, the matches were played at a prisoners of war camp, Stammlager 383, in Germany. News of the matches has reached England from a prisoner. Both England and Australia beat New Zealand, and in the final two-nay match, Australia beat England by 200 runs.
