BIBLE CLASS CONTESTS LAST NIGHT’S RESULTS The tenth annual Inter-Bible Class competitions held by the Wanganui Christian Youth Movement were continued in the Savage Club Hall last night, when a large and enthusiastic crowd attended the third sessions for the Buxton Banner. Last night's results were: —Humorous Recitations (under 16): John Jenkins (Christ Church) 1, Noani Fergusson (St. John's) 2, Beryl Jones (D.S.M.I 3. Sacred solo (ladies): Isabella Mackie (St. Paul's) 1, Lindsay Breton (Christ Church) 2, Muriel Bartrum (St. Paul’s) 3. Brass band instrument solo: Ron Tipper (Ingestre Street Baptist) 1, Ken Bennett (Christ Church) 2, lan Robb (St. Paul’s) 3. Dramatic or character sketch: Audrey Bates (St. Paul’s) 1, Margaret Bradshaw (St. John’s) 2. Isabella Mackie (St. Paul’s) 2, Margaret Scott (Ingestre Street) 3. Drill squad (girls): St. Paul’s 1, Christ Church 2, St. Andrew’s 3. On Monday night St. Paul's Bible classes presented the play "A Girl lor the Hall” and last night Christ Church classes gave "Solomon's Folly.” Points are allotted to each church according to the placings of its competitors and the Buxton Banner is held for a year by the classes gaining the most points. Last year's winner was St. Paul's. Judges are: Musical, Mr. F. W. Slater; elocution and plays, Mr. L. M. H. Cave; physical drill and folk dancing, Mr. D. P. O'Connor; brass band instruments, Mr. W. G. Hickman. The official accompaniste is Mrs. D. Abernethy.
