Mr. J. Lissington. health inspector ior the Palmerston North City Coun■il, has resigned.
Archdeacon W. Bullock, of Wellington, who underwent a serious operation to an eye last week, is reported to be making satisfactory progress. Mr 11. W. Shortt. Wellington, was. on Thursday, re-elected orcsident of the Federation ol New Zealand Justices’ Associations, tc hold office till the next conference in Auckland. Mr J. B. Paterson, Auckland, was elected vice-president.
Reference to the deaths of Mr. F. Mackie, a vice-president, and FlyingOfficer W. L. Kauter, R.N.Z.A.F., a United Club player and Wanganui representative, is made in the annual report of the Wanganui Cricket Association to be submitted to the annual meeting on Monday night. Colonel C. V. Ciochetto. Civil Defence Commissioner of the Central Region, has completed his engagement at Wellington headquarters. He is returning to his home at Palmerston North, where he will be available for service as honorary commissioner. With the present appreciation of the war position it would not be necessary to fill the commissioner’s place in Wellington.
