N.Z. AIRMAN PROMOTED
Recd. 6 p.m. London, Sept. 30. R. B. Hesselyn, of Christchurch, has been promoted to Flight-Lieutenant. He recently shot down another Focke Wulf 190 when, with a wing led by Wing-Commander W. V. C. Compton, which was escorting Marauders attacking an aerodrome in northern France. Fifteen Focke Wulfs appeared. Hesselyn chased one to a low level and saw the German crash. This makes 18i enemy planes destroyed by him.
