There was a well attended meeting of the local branch of the N.Z. Labour Party on Saturday evening last, to arrange the itinerary of the Hon. F. Langstone. In order to meet the wishes of many electors scattered throughout the district, it was necessary to arrange two meetings on some days.
The branch listened with interest to an address by a farmer member on the Lands Sales Bill. He claimed that the measure as brought forward was highly desirable, and was a fair means of attaining kind settlement for soldiers. All realised, said the speaker, that no greater reward could be offered by a gracious country to those who had rendered the highest service to it than by returning the Government to fulfil its promises of making this country fit for heroes in reality.
A letter of appreciation was forwarded to the member (the Hon. F. Langstone) for his able definition ol the Lend-Lease agreement recently given in the House, and his stirring address on the Land Sales Bill.
