RUSSIANS SHATTER NAZI MYTH Recd. 6 p.m. London. Aug. 23. The Times, in a Leading article, says: “Just as Britain demolished once and for all the myth of the irresistible Luftwaffe the Russians have shattered the myth of the invincible German army. It would bp difficult to I over-estimate the obligation under I which the Russians have laid the • friends of freedom throughout the world.” Berlin radio stated: “Kharkov is a heap of rubble and ashes.” The description of Kharkov’s last hours included a recording of the voice of a German general commanding the destruction of everything valuable to the Russians. Berlin radio has admitted that the Russians attacking west of Kuibysheve have breached the German lines. Moscow has given no news about Kharkov since a report issued last night of further advances on that front. This is the fourth tune Kharkov has changed hands in the last two years. Last February the ‘Red Army retook it out was unable to conso’idate before the early spring and Germans re-entered the town a month later in their counter-offensive.
