FIVE LIVES LOST

AIRCRAFT ACCIDENT (P.A.) Parliament Bldgs.. Aug. 24. Five members of the Royal New Zealand Air Force were involved in an aircraft accident near a North Island station this morning and are believed to have lost their lives. Thev were:— Pilot Officer Harold Hayward Beard; next-of-kin, Mrs. D. G. Beard, Kimbolton (w.). Flight-Sergeant William Marshall; Miss M. Marshall, Waiuku (s.). Sergeant William James Plant; Mrs. A. Plant, Auckland (w.). Sergeant John Francis Aubrey; Mr. J. H. Aubrey, Silverdale (f.). The aircraft, which was engaged in a training flight, dived steeply into the sea approximately three miles off shore and, despite most extensive searches, no trace of wreckage or the occupants was teund.
