BASIS OF RATIONING Wellington, May 20. It is anticipated that it will be*possible to ration fertiliser to farmers this year on the same basis as last year, according to a statement made by Mr. R. B. Tennent, Assistant Director of Agriculture, to the Dominion Dairy Conference to-day. He said that the British Phosphates Commission would probably be able to make 160,000 tons of phosphate rock available for the coming season, the same amount as last year. A contract had also been let for 20.000 tons of low-grade Clarendon rock, which contained 10 to 12 per cent, of phosphate. Referring to the Clarendon deposits in the South Island, Mr. Tennent said that low-grade super had been made from them, and experiments in making a high-grade article were most gratifying.
