WANGANUI BOWLING CENTRE Ideal weather conditions prevailed on Saturday for continuation of play under the auspices of the Wanganui Bowling Centre. For the Easter tournament, when entries closed on Saturday they ( totalled 48, including teams from , Marton and Taihane and Waitotara, 1 besides two from Fitzroy and Waitara and one each from Wellington Club, Khandallah, Vogeltown. and Patea, or a total of eleven from outside of Wanganui. There may be more entries before the Centre meeting to-night, when sections will be drawn. Following arc the results of play on Saturday:— WANGANUI CLUB A good gathering of members made I the most of a perfect bowling day at the Wanganui green on Saturday. Next Saturday the final of the Club Fours will be played and the official closing of the green for this season held. WANGANUI EAST CLUB As club full rink competitions have finished, friendly games were played on Saturday at the Wanganui East green. Results. Campbell, Munro. M. Stewart, Carvell 19, v. The official closing of the dub for the season takes place next Saturday, when members arc requested to provide a basket. COSMOPOLITAN CLUB The final round of the Cosmopolitan Bowling Club’s progressive fours competition was played on Saturday with the following results:—Hodgson, Driver, Powell, J. Baxter 25, v. Taylor. Watson, Wakely, McKay 28; Ryburn, O'Reilly, Turner, F. Benson 12, v. Sherriff, Perrett, Armstrong, Robertson 28; Grooby, Fayen, Overend, Seeling 23, v. Gow, Spooner, Stroud, Holden 22. ST JOHN’S CLUB. Accommodation at the St. John's green, now limited owing to two ends on each green having been prepared and top-dressed, was Overtaxed on Saturday. St. John’s committee men and some others who get more play than the average member obligingly took up the role of spectators. The club fours final was won by Broadhead’s team from Herd’s team, after a remarkably closely-contested game by one point. The “Ferns" final was won by Moffatt's team from McNatty’s team after another well-con-tested game. The Bannerette game with Gonville, the holders, ended in a win for Gonville after St. John's had been ahead most of the game. Some Easter tourney teams had practice games together. The president, Mr. Arthur Pepper, announced that next Saturday would mark the official closing of the green for the season, but that play would continue up till Easter. The winter season would open early in May, the definite date to be decided later. Mr. Pepper announced that the net pro- ! ceeds of Gala Day would be about £l2O. He thanked stall-holders, competition committees, members of other clubs and all who had assisted to make the event so successful. VICTORIA CLUB. The final round of the Victoria Bowling Club fours was played on Saturday. Results were as follows: Ghent, Gurr, Mathie, Fry 29 v. Dreyer, O'Sullivan, Burton, Munro 16; Vincent, Cunningham, Miller, Gillespie 19 v. Sammons, Galyer, W. Swan, Baxter 15; McGregor, Dixon. Benge, Schumacher 20 v. Lawrence, Edwards, Browne, W’ard 19. From now on until the closing date after Easter, play will be restricted to the short way of the green. Competition players are reminded that the closing date for entries is April 18.
