JOB FOR LA GUARDIA

VALUABLE SERVICES AS MAYOR Recd. 9 p.m. Washington, April 8. “Mayor La Guardia offered his services to the armed forces but it is difficult to find any place in the Army where he could be as helpful as Mayor of New York, where he is rendering, directly to New York, and mdirectly io the nation, most valuable services,” said Mr. Henry Stimson at his press conference. A correspondent of the New York Daily News predicted that Mr. Roosevelt would direct Mr. La Guardia to join the Army with the rank of brigadier-general. Another paper speculated that he might become the governor of occupied territory when U.S. forces moved into Italy.
