TAIHAPE NURSING DIVISION

ST. JOHN AMBULANCE BRIGADE (0.C.) Taihape, March 16. The annual meeting of the Taihape St. John Ambulance Nursing Division was held recently before a good attendance. The annual report of the Nursing Division was read, also ’ the report of the newly-formed Cadet Division. All home nursing and first-aid classes had been completed and nine sisters had been successful in their reexamination. First-aid classes were also held for the W.W.S.A. and 30 members had passed the examination. The lectures for these classes had been given by Dr. G. N. Mac Diarmid and Dr. H. M. Hay. Dr. D. L. Sinclair and Dr. Hay had been the examiners. The financial report proved very 1 satisfactory. Regret was expressed at the resignation of the lady superin--1 tendent, Mrs. Seccombe, and appreciation of her valuable work for the Division was placed on record. A Girls’ Cadet Division had been formed under the supervision of Mrs. Flashoff. A vote of thanks was extended to Miss Anderson, matron of the public hospital, for examining the home nursing and hygiene candidates. The following officers were elected: Division surgeon, D. G. N. Mac Diarmid; lady divisional superintendent, Mrs. McClure; L.A.0., Mrs. George; secretary, Miss Thompson; treasurer, Mrs. Fitzsimmons; storekeeper, Mrs. Flashoff. latives on Anzac Day and an-after-noon tendered to the old residents and next-of-kin of soldiers. Another successful function was the celebration of the institute's 11th birthday in July. Delegates have attended the annual and half-yearly council meetings of the federation. Mrs Peacocke I congratulated the institute on its [loyalty to the federation and paid a i warm tribute to Mrs. A. A. Carey : for her work as president during the i year. Tributes were paid to the retiring committee members and shoulder sprays were presented to them. Sprays were also presented to Mesdames Carey and Peacocke and Mrs. Loader, the first member to be called for. the Armed Forces. The secretary, Mrs. S. Gunn, was presented with a bouquet.
