NAZIS WARNED

INVASION IMMINENT FORTIFYING COAST OF YUGOSLAVIA Recd. 11 p.m. London, March 15. According to a statement issued by the Yugoslav Government in London, German staff officers throughout Bulgaria have received confidential orders to proceed to Sofia immediately, where they will remain in close contact with headquarters. The Germans are extensively fortifying the coast, particularly Varna and Burgas. Strongpoints have been constructed along the coast and the majority of coastal inhabitants have been evacuated. Moscow radio last night warned the German people that an AngloAmerican landing in Europe was imminent Dr. Breening, Berlin radio's political commentator, declared: “Germany is getting ready for gigantic assaults.” Moscow radio said: “The German High Command knows that a landing is coming. This is shown by the systematic evacuation of the coastal area of France, Belgium, Holland and Norway.”

London newspapers advocating an immediate second front are claiming that it Hitler can stabilise his front in Russia, his next blow will be to the west.

Reynolds News’ military correspondent says that all the evidence points to t.ne conclusion that Hitler is fighting to hold a defensive line in the east and will not launch a new offensive against the Red Army this spring.
