DRIVEN BACK
JAPANESE COLUMN ON YANGTZE Recd. 6 p.m. Chungking, March 12. One of the eight Japanese columns which crossed the Yangtze has been driven back to the river, says a Chinese communique. The Japanese gained at other points. They suffered hea\*y losses in two actions between Shasi and Yochow which probably were designed to provide springboards for a new drive against Changsha.
