DAYLIGHT AIR RAIDS

VICTIMS IN BRITAIN Recd. 6.25 p.m. London, March 10. At least ten were killed in a German daylight raid yestreday on a British south coast town, which a German communique says was Worthing. Some were seriously injured. Digging continued throughout the night at a point near the sea front, where a block of flats was wrecked. Rescuers are still working, as it is thought some women are trapped under the ruins. Two of the raiders were shot down by anti-aircraft batteries during this attack. Raiders last night also scattered high explosives and incendiaries over a wide area on north-east Esgland. A German communique claims that extensive tires were started in Hull. Two of a few lighter-bombers which attacked a south coast town yesterday were shot down by heavy and light anti-aircraft lire. Both planes .tell into the sea. A rescue launch later reported finding a large patch of oil.

This afternoon four enemy aircraft made a brief appearance over the south-west coast. Bombs dropped on one place caused neither casualties nor damage. ,
