MEASURING NERVOUS IMPULSES
Sir,—London cable informs us of a great new discovery. Dr. H. Cohen has invented an instrument for measuring the nervous impulses circulating through the brain. He claims this ■will assist the practitioner with diagnosis and prognosis. Dr. B. J. Palmer, Davenport, lowa, U.5.A., has developed such an instrument as long ago as 1925. There are thousands ot these instruments in use all over the world. The chiropractors have been using them with great success, and have developed its technique into a fine art. I have been using one for 13 years. The medical profession meanwhile has ridiculed the whole thing. Dr. Moms Fishbien, an ex-president of the American Medical Association and the editor of their official organ, has published a book “Quacxs and Quackeries of the Healing Cults.” He gave pride of place to this instrument (neurocalometer), as the most infamous of all impositions ever perpetrated upon an unsuspecting public. He and his friends kept on ridiculing while the chiropractors were too busy using it for the benefit of the sick and insane, idiotic and weak minded.
And now after 17 years, another physician, in another part of the world has discovered this instrument all over again. And, of course, we are informed, with all glitter and pomp of a great new discovery. For stealing an honest man's thunder this takes some beating. Thank you, sir,—l am, etc., S. I. NOLAN, D.C.Ph.C. 381 Victoria Avenue, Wanganui.
