AMERICAN VICTORY

FIGHT OVER STRAITS OF SICILY London, March 9. American bombers and fighters scored a big victory in a battle over the Sicilian Straits. A large formation of Flying Fortresses and Lightnings was attacked by 50 enemy aircraft and shot down 17 of them. Two more Axis fighters collided and crashed into the sea. All the American planes got home safely. Elsewhere tw<» mor* German fighters were shot down. The score for the day was 21 for two in our favour.
