Miss Ruth Ashcroft, St. John’s Hill, was a week-end visitor to Feilding. Mrs. W. E. Lticy, Godwin Crescent, has returned after spending a holiday in Dunedin, Central Otago. Miss Grace Izard, Rotorua, is visiting Wanganui. Mrs. N. R. Wallace is a Wanganui visitor to Masterton. Mrs. D. Dykes, who has been visiting in the Hawke's Bay district, is staying with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. L. Loveridge, Brunswick Road. Mrs. Hugh McDonald, Raetihi, is visiting her sister, Mrs. George Edmonds, Wanganui East, prior to leaving for Otorohanga, where she will reside in future.

Mrs. H. Humphrey and her daughter, Miss Joyce Humphrey, Somme Parade, leave to-day for Ormondville. where they will be the guests of Mrs, D. Loveridge.

Mrs. V. B. Willis, College Street, has returned to Wanganui after spending two months’ holiday in Christchurch. On her return to the North Island, Mrs. Willis stayed in Wellington for several days as the guest of Mrs. R. Hammond. The annual swimming sports of St. Alban’s Preparatory School were held on Thursday in the Intermediate baths, when many parents and friends attended. The Freeman Cup was won by the champion swimjner, Ngaire Robbie (19 points), Jean Mitchell with 13 points was second, and Jacqueline Timbs and Betty Blackmore were third equal with six points. The Taiboys Cup for breaststroke was won by Jean Mitchell, and Angela Carver won the beginners’ cup. On Friday pupils iourneyed to Aramoho Park for a picnic. They snent the time on the swings and paddling in the poo], which was filled for the occasion by the authorities. Races were also held. Success attended the Wanganui Air Force Relations Week which ended on Friday. The sum of £750 was taken, which is an increase of £5O on last year's effort. Among the takings at the stalls the proceeds from the old clothes stall brought in £l2l and the produce stall about £lOO. The total monies raised were obtained without the aid of competitions. The women’s world day of prayer committee met recently and Mrs. P. S. Whitlock presided, l each denomination being represented. The service is held in a different country each year on the Friday after Ash Wednesday, which falls on March 12. This year’s service was prepared in America by two women, Mrs. Beniamin Mays, Moorhouse College. Atlanta, and Dr. Georgia Harkness, Evanston, Illinois. Mrs. Mays is a negress whose husband is president of Moorhouse College and who has done much in educational circles and social work. Dr. Harkness is professor of theology, a writer of books and poetry, a sneaker of note, and attended the Oxford, Jerusalem, Madras and Amsterdam International Conferences. The main gathering in Wanganui will be in Christ Church, where services will be held throughout the day. A service will also be held in suburban churches. The time will be advertised later.

After military drill last week members of the canteen section of the W.W.S.A. gathered in the UnTied Services Club to farewell Mrs. W. Loveridge, instructor in practical training of quantity cooking, who has joined the W.A.A.C. anti leaves today for a course of instruction in Wellington. About 40 members were present, including members of the executive. Songs were given by Mrs. Bellringer and Mrs. Fossette, with Miss Patterson as accompanlste.
