OPEN PAIRS TOURNEY
WANGANUI BOWLING CENTRE RAIN AGAIN INTERRUPTS PLAY At the conclusion of section play in the Wanganui Bowling Centre’s open pairs tournament yesterday morning 14 teams qualified to go forward for post-section play on the Wanganui Club’s green. The qualifying teams were skipped by Marr, Fletcher. Herd and Goodey (five wins each). Goebel. Boyd. Brass, Beard. C. S. Brown, W. M. Gordon, Stone, Glover, W. Harris and Quarterman (four wins each). The first round of post-section play was completed under fairly good conditions, but after a few ends of the second round had been played heavy rain set in, causing a further postponement. If the weather permits play will be resumed this morning, commencing at 9 o’clock. The postponement was unfortunate for the Marton players, who will have to make another trip from their home town to-day.
When play was discontinued Marr was playing Herd. Gordon playing Stone. Goebel playing Goodey, and Qu ar term an playing Glover.
