GOOD PROGRESS MADE

NEW JUBILEE HOME BLOCK

Good progress was being made with the construction of new blocks at the Jubilee Home, Aramoho, and the work was proceeding satisfactorily, said the architect, Mr. C. Newton Hood, at a meeting of the Wanganui Hospital Board yesterday. Concrete foundations were well advanced and the contractors had made arrangements, through the Commissioner of Defence Construction, for the necessary timber to be supplied, said Mr. Hood.

Mr. Hood reported also that when the artesian water service supplying the home was investigated, it was discovered that two leads were apparently supplying water to other properties. Nothing had previously been known about this and the pipes had apparently been in service for some years, said Mr. Hood, who recommended that an investigation be made. Schedules, plans and specifications for improvements to the Taihape Hospital have been forwarded to Wellington for approval by the Department of Health. A loan of £2500 for this work has been authorised.
