SOME GOOD GALLOPS Some useful work was accomplished at Te Rapa on Tuesday morning in preparation for the Waikato Racing Club’s summer meeting on Saturday. Foxsen (Lye) and Gine Kin (Hain) ran six furlongs in 1.18 2-5. They did their work well. Kinstep was not bustled while running three furlongs Stylosa (Caddy) and The Dude (Cox) were associated over a round in 2.7. Playfellow and Royal Dink displayed dash in covering three furlongs in 38sec. Playfellow, a fine stamp of galloper by Jovial Son, has been shaping pleasingly. Ringlight (Caddy) did better than Erndale (Casey) over six furlongs in 1.20 1-5. Ballyneety and Hullabaloo sprinted three furlongs in 38 l-ssec. A useful effort over six furlongs was credited to Gay Lally and Lady Bertha, who ran 1.18. They were practically on terms throughout. The best seven furlongs was run by Air Port (R. Caddy), Lord Mascot (Groshinski) and The Pied Piper (Taylor), who finished as named in 1.32 4-5, after covering the first half-mile in 51 4-ssec. Air Port is not without prospects in the Storey Memorial Handicap on Saturday. Hunter’s Night, who is being prepared by R. Percival, worked freely over a round. Venture traversed six furlongs in 1.20. Brandon Hall hit out freely over a round. Ellerslie Track Work
Smart sprints by Kraal and Nizam were features of the training operations at Ellerslie on Tuesday. The No. 2 grass was used for galloping ana was in excellent order. Kraal went nicely over four furlongs in 49sec. She is in good trim. Nizam was responsible for a solid effort in beating Subadar over five furlongs in 1.3. He has freshened up well. Landveyor covered a round in 1.42, Red Warden assisting over the last six furlongs in 1.16. Landveyor is in capital order. Three Furlongs.—Wee Pay, 40 2-ssec.; Victory Lass (tan), 39sec. Five Furlongs.—Purple Vermeer, 1.4 4-5. Six Furlongs.—Lord Defoe and Bronzo, 1.16 2-5; Silver Coin and Lady Ex, 1.16 2-5; British Talent, 1.18 1-5. Round—Ugly Duckling, 1.45 3-5. Sir Cameron and Watchett completed a round on the tan in 1.55, the last six furlongs in 1.20 1-5 and the final half-mile in 52 3-ssec.
