R.A.F. RESCUE DINGHIES
NEW TYPES IN SERVICE (Rccd. 6 p.m.) London, Feb. 14. New types of R.A.F. rubber rescue dinghies have completed tests and are now being produced for general issue to air crews and ship-borne fighter pilats, reports the Sunday Express. Type Q was designed to take a load of li tons and accommodates 10 men. It is shaped like a rowing boat, has a light alloy telescopic mast, a waterproofed silk and cotton mainsail and foresail, and duralumin rudder, pockets for compass and charts, an emergency pack containing a first-aid kit and provisions, and signalling gear. A squadron-leader who tested this type sailed successfully in a gale with five aboard.
