EGMONT RACING CLUB
ATTRACTION AT HAWERA ON SATURDAY
The one-day summer meeting of the Egmont Racing Club, to be held at the Hawera Racecourse on Saturday, is attracting keen interest among Taranaki and Wanganui racing enthusiasts, and preparations are being made by club officials for a record attendance. A feature of the day’s racing will be the presence of convalescent American servicemen, who will be the guests of the Egmont Racing Club during their stay of several days in Taranaki. An attractive card of eight races will be presented on Saturday, feature events being the Egmont Cup, with fourteen acceptors, the Flying Handicap and the Tonks Stakes, each with ten acceptors, and the wellendowed hack distance race, the Nolan Cup, for which fourteen figure on the card. Wanganui patrons may travel by rail to the meeting, leaving Wanganui at 6.45 a.m.. the return train leaving the course at 5.45 p.m.
