GERMAN WOOL BUYER
ADDRESSEE OF LETTER FOUND IN BOTTLE
(P.A.) Christchurch, Feb. 3. J. Wolfram, to whom a message in a bottle, picked up on an Australian beach, was addressed 30 vears ago. was a young German wool buyer who left New Zealand in 1913 and has not returned to the Dominion since. A Christchurch woolbroker met Wolfram in 1938 at the London wool sales, where he was buying for a German firm domiciled in Amsterdam, of which he was a partner. Wolfram first came to New Zealand in 1908 as a buyer for the firm of k. F. Rhodius. of Antwerp. He was well known at the wool sales and spent one winter in the Dominion. The records of the Canterbury Club show that he joined the club in 1911 and left the country in 1913.
