Rev. W. M. Smalllield, Vicar of Taihape, is visiting Wanganui. Major R. O. C. Marks. D.C.M., Wanganui, was elected to the North Island executive <•. the Real Democracy Movement at its first annual conference in Lower Hutt.
Dr. P. J Monoghan, chief medical officer lor the Administration oi Western Samoa, and Mr. C. C. McK.-.y, secretary of the Native At’a:rs Department at Apia, are in New Zealand. Mr. Alexander Reardon (Maxwell) has been appointed to represent the Wanganui Commercial Gardeners’ Society on the Wanganui Provincial Executive of the New Zealand Farmers' Union.
Schoolgirl Injured. Catching her chin on the edge of the high-diving board at a city swimming bath this week, a schoolgirl, M. O’Donnell, suffered a painful injury. After being attended to by Dr. C. R. Davies, the girl was able to go home.
Mr. Leonard Houlbrooke, who died recently at the age of 73, was a pioneer settler of Tiraumea district, and was a member of the Eketahuna County Council for many years. He was also a prominent member of the Masonic fraternity, 'being a provincial officer of Grand Lodge. The death has occurred of Mr. Cnarles Lambeth, of Hamilton. Born in Dunedin in 1867, Mr. Lambeth was educated tn Dunedin and practised as an architect in Invercargill. In 1921 he went to Hamilton and carried on his profession. He was a member of the Whittiora Bowling Club and a keen member of the Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, two daughters and a son. There are 11 grandchildren.
