RAETIHI. Miss Evelyn Goldfinch is spending a holiday at Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. Mahar and family are spending a holiday at Rotorua. Mr. ana Mrs. R. B. Davies and family have returned from a holiday at tiie seaside. Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Harris are spending a holiday at Aria. Mrs. F. W. Pearce and Misses Jennifer and Helen Pearce are staying at Island Bay, Wellington. Miss Jean Anderson is visiting Auckland. Mr. and Mrs. G. Godby have returned from a holiday at Wanganui. MARTON Pilot-Officer Cyril Henry Comrie, who lost his life when an aircraft engaged in flying training crashed on Monday afternoon, was a son of Mr. and Mrs. H. P. Comrie, formerly ot Marton. He was educated at the Marton District High School and was formerly a member of the Marton Boy Scouts. He leaves a young widow. His parents now reside al Paekakariki, Mr. Comrie having recently retired from his position as stationmaster on the N.Z. Railways. Cyril’s brother, Douglas Comrie, was on the staff of the Bank of New Zealand at Marton before joining the Navy. Mrs. H. L. Grut and daughter, who have been spending a pleasant month’s holiday at Manawatu Heads, Foxton, returned to Marton during the past week-end. Mrs. W. Raine, of Marton, left for Wellington yesterday to spend a fortnight’s holiday at Day’s Bay.

Mr. L. P. W. Jordan was recently married to Miss C. Bennetts, of Roxburgh, the ceremony being held at the residence of the bride’s parents. The Rev. C. B. Jordan, father of the bridegroom, officiated. The honeymoon has been spent in Marton, and the young couple left on Wednesday for Quarry Hills, Southland, where Mr. Jordan is sole teacher.

Mrs. R. M. H. Parkinson. Robert Street, Marton, is visiting Wellington and is the guest of Mrs. E. Blampied, Rongotai.
