SCHOOL BUILDINGS

EDUCATION BOARD WORK Reporting to the Wanganui Education Board yesterday under the heading of “works completed,” the architect, E. R. Hodge, said that the work regarding general renovations and improvements to the recently purchased residence at Ohakune had been finished. . A rock gas plant had been installed at the school. General repairs had been effected to the school buildings, coke accommodation provided at both the primary and secondary school buildings. At Keith Street tfie whole of the hardsurfaced area has been repaired and top-dressed. Works in hand include the painting of the exteriors and interiors of the main and side school buildings at Castlecliff. The concrete foundations at Upokongaro School have been laid and preparations have been made for a start on the wood construction.

Mr. Hodge reported that the workshop is somewhat short staffed, but with good stocks on hand most demands are being dealt with expeditiously.

Those present at the meeting were Messrs. E. F. Hemingway (Patea), chairman, I. W. Mudford (Foxton), W. G. Price, J. C. Batt (Wanganui), W. P. Meads (Raetihi), W. G. Black EWid W. H. Brown (Palmerston North), J. W. Batchelar (Waitune West). Leave of absence was granted Mr. P. Munro (Utiku).
