OPERA HOUSE
“Marry The Boss’s Daughter," a screamingly funny new type of comedy, heads the double feature programme at the Opera House to-day. Following the advice of Professor Robert Emmett Rogers of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology that “the only way for a young man to get ahead these days is to marry the boss's daughter,” the hero of this new comedy hit decides not to waste his time with the hired help. It’s the boss's daughter or nothing for him. Bruce Edwards comes to New York with an idea. He is going to beat the big city by starting at the Battery and working his way uptown. On his way up, he meets lovely Brenda Joyce, the daughter of tycoon George Barbier. With her help he gets a job with her father. How he manages to marry Brenda and become the head of the family business makes for an hour of solid laughs. Brenda Joyce is excellent as the pretty young girl who fails for the boy from the West. B.uce Edwards in his fiist screen role, gives a fine performance which stamps him as a coming screen personality, and George Barbier is great as tne b’g businessman. The associate feature, ■"The Case of the Frightened Lady," is one of Edgar Wallace’s finest thrillers. Telling the story of a series of murders at the country mansion of the Lebanon family, where the dowager Lady Lebanon and her son, Lord "Willie” Lebanon are living, "The Case of the Frightened Lady" maintains a high level of suspense from start to finish,
