Humour at Fire.

One of the residents in the apartment house at Wellington, which was destroyed by fire on Sunday morning, describes a humorous happening in the first excitement of the alarm. Just as a woman was ringing the fire brigade from the telephone in the hall, one of the male residents, in his night attire, rushed down the stairs from the upper storey and tore out of the front door, staggering under the heavy load of his belongings he had clasped in his arms. As he passed out on to the porch his pyjama trousers fell clown. Just as that moment the woman obtained the telephone connection with the brigade, but she was unable to speak for a moment for laughing.
