U.S. BOMBERS OVER BURMA
(Recd. 6 p.m.) Chungking, Jan. 3. Flying nearly 300 miles from China over towering mountains and dense jungle, American bombers blasted the Japanese air base at Shwebo, almost in the centre of Burma. Heavy bombs tore up the main runway and damaged dispersal areas. The raiders were not opposed.
