THE “INSEPARABLES”
NAVAL BROTHERS TO PART. In their home town in Surrey the bearded Troughton boys are known as "the inseparable naval brothers.” A fortnight before the war began both Bryan Troughton—he is 30 now —and Walter Troughton—four years younger—were training in the R.N.V.R. They sailed away as volunteer reservists—and they sailed into war. Their captain recommended them both for commissions. They came ashore together, they studied together, they sat for examinations together—and they were promoted from the lower deck to the wardroom together. For two years Lieutenant Brvan Troughton. R.N.V.R.. has been first lieutenant of an Atlantic corvette. His brother has been his brTher officer in jhe same warship. They always came home together on leave.
But the "inseparables” will not sal together any more.
The Admiralty, looking f. a n rst. lieutenant for another corvette, s promoted Walter.
