SUPER-FORTRESS

NEW AMERICAN BOMBER (Recd. 9 p.m.) Dayton (Ohio), Jan. 1. “The Flying Fortress has a successor coming soon, bigger and faster and able to carry the greatest bombload the world has yet seen,” MajorGeneral Echols, Commandant of the Army Air Force materials section, told the press. However, the Flying Fortress is the most valuable combat plane produced in this war. It will not be supplanted or scrapped, but parallel with its continued production the Army is turning out the new super-Fortress. The production of Consolidated Liberators is also continuing.
