Commenting that theie had been no need to use a chair. Mr. W. F. Stilwell, S.M., fined Clifford Goodwin, a seaman, £2 10s in th'- Magistrate’s ’Court lor assault committed in a restaurant on Christmas Eve. The case for the police was that lhe accused went into a Greek restaurant in Courtenay Place at 6.15 p.m., followed bv a big dog. Another man complained and tried to chase the dog out, and Goodwin hit him over the head with a chair. The reason Goodwin gave to the police was that the other man had s corn at the dog. In Court Goodwin, who pleaded guilty “with provocation,” said it was not his dog, but had followed him up the street. ' t
