ANNUAL MEETING HELD. (0.C.) Taihape, Dec. 14. 1 here was an excellent attendance at the annual meeting of the Taihape | branch of tn e W.W.S.A. Mrs. D. G. Gordon presided and the reports 01 various Branches were read by the secretary, Mrs. Barton. The number 01 young trainees is smaller and several have left the district. Branch reports are as follow’: Mangaweka. This branch has made and dispatched to Wellington 10 nets; eignt members have taken the Hygiene and sanitation course. Petrol restrictions have affected the number of meetings. More nets will oe made shortly. Koeke.—This oranch is also making nets. The first aid classes are being conducted by Miss ft. Collins and are well attended. A chest full of children s clothing made by members is to be kept in store for evacuees if tney come to the district. Members nave been going to the school every Friday to assist the children witn papier-machie work. Miss Collins is m charge of the work and articles are now ready to be forwarded to Taihape. Ohingaiti.—This branch is under Mrs. T. Stewart, with Miss D. Stent as secretary prior to her entrance into military service, Mrs. J. B. McKnight then filling the vacancy. The signallers are doing excellent work and a number attended the signallers’ camp in June. A series of hirst Aid lectures given by Dr. Whitta was well attended. This branch is also making nets. Taihape.—Signallers are still being instructed by Mr. McLaren and the oranch is very grateful to him for his untiring efforts. First aid classes have been well attended and were conducted by Mrs. Seccombe. Motor transport classes were conducted by Mr. Hayman and all candidates passed the examination held by the Institution of Automotive Engineers. The canteen is running efficiently and many members are doing excellent work at the Fighting Forces Club. Hampers have been received from the Hunterville, W.D.F.U. and many local people and this has helped to make the canteen a success. Papier machie work has improved and a large number of articles have been sent to Wellington Headquarters and supplies have also been sent to the Taihape Hospital. Camouflage nets to the number of 77 have been made and dispatched. and this work is still being carried on.
