PATRIOTIC MARCHING

DEMONSTRATION BY GIRLS’ TEAMS. The first public demonstration of teams of the Wanganui Girls’ Marching Association this summer will be held on Cook’s Gardens on Sunday afternoon. Ten teams will be participating and each will give a different display of marching. Following this will be a grand massed march oi all teams in quick and slow time. This massed march has been organised and coached by Drum-Major D. A. Almond, of the Wanganui Highland Pipe Band. An improved all-round standard is seen this year in the majority ol teams, this no doubt being due to the number of military personnel acting as coaches. The demonstration on Sunday should prove to be a good try-out for the Taranaki marching cnampionships which take place at Haw era on December 5. Three bands, the Wanganui Highland Pipe Band, and the A.F.V. Band will be in attendance at the demonstration on Sunday. The marching teams taking part are: McGruers, D.1.C., Southern Cross, Warnocks, United, Oxfords, McKenzies. Troubadors, Kiwis and Wanganui Technical College Old Girls.
