ARRANGEMENTS WITH ARMY. . <P.A.) Wellington, Oct. 9. "New Zealand cannot oTord to ease ioff its campaign for the de-, ruction of deer; they are wreaking great havoc among crops and native bush,” said! the Minister of Internal Affairs (Mr Parry) yesterday. A working arrangement. he said, now decided on be-1 tween the Army authorities and the Internal Affairs Department, should enable the deer menace to be tackled with, it was hoped, even greater results than those obtained when the full staff of highly-skilled deer killers was engaged prior to the outbreak of war. “Working with experts in deer destruction in bush and mountain country." Mr. Perry said, “the men of the Army selected should gain a wonderful experience in a class of fignting which will make them efficient and doubly valuable should the need arise for their services in New Zealand.” A wide range of country in both islands where deer were thick was to he worked by the men. the Minister stated. Some of the areas in which operations would bo commenced we r e Waikaremoana and the nrewera. in the North Island, and Waimakariri North. Hanmer Springs, and Marlborough, in the South Island.
