SUGAR RATION

REDUCED IN OCTOBER TEN OUNCES PER COUPON (P.A.) Wellington, Sept. 30. The Rationing Controller, Mr. J. E. Thomas, announced th it, under the authority of the Minister of Supply, and the. War Cabinet, the sugar ration for October is being reduced from 12 to 10 ounces per person weekly. Coupons 23 to 26 inclusive will be available for the month, each having a surrender value of 10 ounces. In addition, a further reduction of 25 per cent, on existing quotas will be made on supplies to manufacturers. The latter, holding permits for October, will be expected to reduce consumption by 25 per cent. The necessity for the reduction is due to the irregularity of shipping, and there is a possibility of a further curtailment in November.
