ALL-ROUND INCREASES IN JULY Another month of increased exports and imports, with a very substantial excess of exports over imports, ia shown in the overseas trade figures lor July announced yesterday by the Customs Department. The increases, occurred not only in July, 1942, an compared with July, 1941, but also in the seven months of 1942, as compared with the first six months of 1941. Exports were made in Jiny to the value of £9,784.000. compared with £5,196,000 in July. 1941, an increase of £4,588,000. Imports were made in July to the value of £5,490,000, compared with £4,338.000 in July, 1941, an increase of £1,152,000. The excess of exports last July was £4,2'J4,<1(i0, compared with £858,000 irt July. 1941, and £968,000 in July, 1940. Fur the seven months of 1942, ended July 31, exports to the value of £53,001,000 were I made, compared with £41,853.000 in the corresponding period of 1941, an increase of £12,148,000. Imports were £29,758,000, compared with £26,395,000 in the aeven months of 1941,. an increase of £3,363,000. In the first seven months of 1942 exports exceeded imports bv £23,243,000 compared with £15,458,000 in 1941. So far this year, therefore, exports have exceeded imports by £7.785,000.
