DEATHS AT SPA

GASES FROM THE SPRING (P.A.) Whangarei, Sept. 26. An inquest regarding the deaths of Teresa Behm (72), and her granddaughter. Irene Day (16), who collapsed and died at the Kamo spa on September 6, resulted in a verdict that the cause was the inhaling of irrespirable gases. The coroner intimated his intention of recommending to the Denartment of Justice that such places as the spa should be subject to the same inspection as mines and quarries. Witnesses agreed that the water of the spring was regarded as most beneficial. Peonle had gone down to the soring level to drink the water. The presence of gas had never caused comment hitherto.

The spring is now fenced off and. the water is numnofl.
