ALABAMA SHIPYARD STRIKE

New York, Sent. 19. A message from Mobile, Alabama, states that more than 15,000 shipyard workers are idle because a free ferry was discontinued and a 5-cent fare imposed. Union leaders term the stoppage wholly unauthorised and unwarranted. State troops guard the city hall, the courthouse, and shipyard approaches. Work on Liberty ships has been virtually brought to a standstill.
