WANGANUI RUGBY SENIOR CLUB TITLE
COLLEGIATE SCHOOL’S SUCCESS
Wartime Rugby recalls that it is 25 years ago next month since Wanganui Collegiate School won the senior Rugby Club championship. In 1917 it was ruleci that players in the championship had to be under the age of 20 years, and among the competing sides was the first fifteen of the school.
The final was played between Kaierau and Collegiate School. Both teams fielded strong sides. In the first half Kaierau held the ascendancy and led 8-0 at half-time. In the second half Collegiate School played with great combination, particularly .he backs, and amid great excitement drew level, with Kaierau. They outplayed the maroons in the concluding stages and went on to collect winning points, and walked off the field with a margin of eight points in their favour.

Ormond L. T. Palmer, R. M. Perry. J. P. Stewart (captain), J. L. Stone-Wigg, A. G. M. Weekes. Kaierau: Gurney, Green. Turner, J Lynch, Williams, Kivell, P. Ellerm. Beard, Trail. Hulme, Garner, McKay, McGregor. Robinson, and Smi'h. The match was refereed by Mr. A. Pownall.
