ESCAPEE RECAPTURED
CAUGHT BY DETECTIVES AT AUCKLAND Auckland. May 21 Recaptured shortly after 10 o’clocl to-day. Robert John Mann. agc<X 2. motor driver, a prisoner who escapei from Auckland Hospital last nignt was brought before the magistrate Mr. F. H. Levien, S.M., in the Polio Court and remanded until Thursda; next on a cnarge of escaping fron lawful custody. He was handcuffei to a constable in the dock. Mann was recaptured by Detective Sergeants Kearney and Brady, afte being out all night following a breal he made after being taken to hospita for treatment under escort of a war der. When the two detective-sergeant saw Mann this morning in the courst of their motor patrol he was walkin; up and down a footpath near th> Western Springs pumping station When the detectives left the car hran into the pumping-station ground and disappeared over a 10ft. ban!
