NEARLY FOUR MILLION IN FIRST WtEK (P.A.) Wellington, May 11. The Reserve Bank reports that the total of Liberty Loan receipts for the first week amounted to £3,780,000. representing an increase of £1,775,000 during Friday and Saturday. The larger applications included a furtner £200,000 irom the Government Insurance Department, making a total of £400,000, and a further £55,000 from the Mutual Life and Citizens' Assurance Company, making a total ol £lOO,OOO. Applications for small amounts are coming in well and so far show a distinct advance on the previous Government loan issue. The amounts applied fur are: 2i per cent. 1947 stocks, £1.348.260; 3 per cent. 1955 stock, £1,947,000; amounts promised, £485,000; total, £3,780,350.
