ANZAC MESSAGES
LORD BIRD WOOD AND SIR ALEXANDER GODLEY (P.A.) Wellington, April 23. The Prime Minister. Rt. Hon. P. Fraser, has received the following Anzac Day message from Field-Mar-shal Lord Birdwood, who was general officer commanding the Anzacs in the ’ last war: — “On this, surely the most momen- . tous Anzac Day since our landing al ■ Anzac. I send greetings to the people of New Zealand. I well realise lhe terrible losses you have sustained rn the past two years. My heart goeout to all who lost-dear ones, but the great spirit of the New Zealand remains, and never has the reputation of her great fighting men stood higher*.—Birdwood of Anzac.” Mr. Fraser sent a message of thanks on behalf of past and present servicemen, the people and the Government of New Zealand, and added: "I can assure you that, the Anzac spirit remains as strong as ever. Under all circumstances New Zealand will stand firm.” Mr. Fraser also received the following message from General Sir Alexander Godley: "Firstly, to the people of New Zealand. on this 27th anniversary of our landing at Anzac, and secondly to the
