INNOCENT HOSTAGES

London, April 21. Laval’s assumption of power has been marked by further mass murders of innocent hostages. Twenty more Frenchmen have been shot at St. Nazaire as an additional reprisal for what the Germans call their activities during the recent raid by British land, sea and air forces. The French sub-prefect was ordered to select 20 townsmen to be shot. He refused, and the German authorities then picked 20 people, including a nrominent trade union leader.
