BASIC WAGE RAISED
AUSTRALIAN FIGURE Melbourne, April 20. Because of a rise in the cost of living, the basic wage in New South Wales. Queensland and South Australia will be increased by 2s a week, in Victoria by 3s a week, and in Western Australia and Tasmania by Is a week. The new basic wage rate in Sydney will be £4 13s, in Melbourne £4 12s, in Brisbane, Adelaide and Hobert £4 Bs, and in Perth £4 7s.
