DEATH OF AIRMAN
PILOT-OFFICER C. H. 0. PRIEST FORMERLY OF WANGAM I Advice that one of his live sons on active service has been killed in an aircraft accident has been received by Mr. D. Priest, of Morrinsvillc, and formerly of Makirikiri. He is PilotOfficer C. H. O. Priest, who had the distinction of being the first New Zealand air-gunner to obtain his commission in Canada. I Three other sons. Edgar. Neville, and Arthur, are prisoners of war in Germany. Captain D. Coleman, in a : letter to the parents, stated that Edgar Priest was his runner during the ■
worst of the lighting in Crete and . carried out the most difficult tasks in . an outstanding manner. He was un- . tiring and willing and showed no fear y at. ail. Before going to Morrinsville Mr. I Priest was employed by the Qkoia , Co-operative Dairy Company and foi . many years was secretary of the Makirikiri Sports Club. ‘
